Bouverie news now open, another shop showing “let”

Bouverie news is now open. Not been in but driving past it looks like they haven’t got their signs sorted yet (at least, I hope that’s not it!).

Also, the small unit next to Timpsons now has “let” in the window – it’s only a small shop so it’s unlikely to be anything all that exciting :-(

Still leaves a couple of the small units vacant, and two large units in the main section of the building with no sign of tenants moving in.

Seem the Vodaphone store is now opening – handy as Folkestone is obviously short on mobile phone stores (yeah right).

Also, I hear “Bouverie news” will be moving into one of the other units “real soon now”. A newsagents isn’t exactly the most exciting store but it’s better than empty units.

Still a few empty ones waiting to be filled. Be interesting to see how long it takes for them to be leased. I wandered around the side by the bus station the other day having been told there is an Asda entrance around there. As far as I could see, it was more a staircase to the carpark outside Asda so not an entrance as such. Access to the store still seems a tad crap to me but I guess people will get used to it. Also, there are a couple more units around there – hadn’t realised that…

Bouverie place parking charges

Apparantly, the car parking is sorted now in the new Bouverie place car park. Annoyingly, it seems it’s a pay and display so you need a load of change to park there. Shame it isn’t a pay on return car park – much easier (and surely encourages people to stay longer?).

Anyway, I was somewhat surprised to hear that it’s £1.10 an hour – that’s dearer than most of the car parks in Canterbury. The old car park over the road is currently still the old price (90p per hour) but it’s supposedly being refurbished real soon – bet it goes up then!

In other news, I noticed the store next to BHS now has “Let” in the window…I wonder who is going in there

Store list

From memory, please comment if I’ve missed any

  • Asda
  • George (bascially, Asda clothes)
  • HMV
  • BHS
  • Next
  • Poundland
  • Starbucks
  • The Body Shop
  • Some sports shop whose name escapes me (something.com)
  • Peacocks

I’m sure I’ve forgotten some. As you can see, it’s not the biggest of shopping centres but still a huge improvement on what Folkestone had before.

Well, it’s finally open

Having heard that Folkestones new shopping centre, Bouverie Place was opening today I thought I’d have a look at their website to see what stores were there. Amazingly, google suggested nothing!

How can a brand new shopping centre not have a website *at all*??? Wierd.

Anyway, I figured i’d stick this site up so that people searching might at least find something vaguely useful! Please comment on anything posted if you have anything to add!
